“It is just like man's vanity and impertinence to call an animal dumb because it is dumb to his dull perceptions.” - Mark Twain

Where is the line drawn when it comes to utilizing an animal? The overall consumption of animals could be omitted from arguments as this is a natural method of survival and as heterotrophs, we rely on living cell and tissue as well as non living substance to live. But what about the more recreational activities with seldom benefit for human survival? Society may understand the practices involved but do they choose to listen and understand?

"Lisa, get a hold of yourself. This is lamb, not a lamb." - The Simpsons

The animal has become less than a living creature but more a product or tool for the human. Animals with natural agility are used for racing or transportation. Killing particular animals in the wild is considered a 'sport' or 'game'. We test our progressive medical theories on animals. Even consumption has turned obscure to the point where particular animals become 'exotic food' such as turtles or veal. And contradictory to this there are still non-urbanized animals that we embrace in the wild or in our zoos. Society utilizes the animal like the carpenter utilizes the hammer.

The benefit of using the animal as a tool is that society is conditioned to belief the animal is a tool. We can eat an animal but we can't walk into an abattoir. We don't like watching animals suffer on television. We tend to simply block it out.

The theory behind farce. is that the ridiculous situations will recreate awareness. The messages are not intricate, they are a simple role reversal so that the message is quirky but still consumable. The style of the series is of a cartoon-like feel which keeps the overall feel a little wacky and thus drawing in a range of people. Hopefully with this grasp the audience can be drawn to accept the subject matter at hand. We are quite excited to see the response to these cards by the public. Will they feel drawn to the messages? Will they be overwhelmed and hesitant to purchase?

farce. is more an observation than an activist message. It is an exciting project, hopefully one that can bring us back to earth.
